Privacy Policy for Remote Hub

Last updated: 17 September 2026

Remote Hub is an Android app that turns your phone into a remote control for smart TVs and streaming devices on your home network, with optional screen mirroring. This page explains what information the app handles, why, and what choices you have. It applies to the Remote Hub app published on Google Play by Billionweb.

The short version

Information the app processes

1. Devices on your local network

To find TVs and streaming boxes, Remote Hub scans the Wi-Fi network your phone is connected to using standard discovery protocols (for example SSDP, mDNS and the manufacturers' own discovery services). During this process the app sees local IP addresses, device names, model names and the manufacturer of devices that answer. This information is used to show you the list of TVs you can connect to and to send remote commands. It stays on your phone. It is not sent to us.

Some TVs require a one time pairing code or an on screen confirmation before they accept commands. The pairing key the TV returns is stored on your device so you do not have to pair again. Remote Hub never stores or transmits your TV's credentials anywhere else.

2. Screen mirroring and selected media

The Cast tab opens Android's system casting settings. Remote Hub does not capture or stream your screen itself. Your phone's system casting service controls screen mirroring, its permissions and when the session ends.

For photos and videos, the Android Photo Picker gives Remote Hub access only to the item you select. Remote Hub passes that item to a compatible media app you choose, using temporary read access. That app handles playback or casting under its own privacy policy. Remote Hub does not upload selected photos or videos to our servers or analytics services.

3. Settings and preferences

Your chosen language, saved devices, the last connected TV, whether you finished onboarding, and your premium status are kept in local app storage on your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes them.

4. Advertising (free version only)

The free version of Remote Hub shows banner, interstitial and rewarded ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google receives the usual technical data from your device: the Android advertising ID, IP address, device model, operating system version, app version, coarse location derived from the IP address, and information about the ads shown and tapped.

Consent. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows a consent message the first time it starts and does not load any ad until you have answered it. You can change your answer later from Settings, Personalized Ads. In US states with applicable privacy laws you may see an opt out message and the same Settings entry.

Without consent Google may still show non personalized ads, which rely on contextual information rather than on your advertising ID.

You can also reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android under Settings, Google, Ads. Remote Hub Premium removes all ads.

How Google uses data when you use our app is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

5. Usage statistics, crash reports and remote configuration

Remote Hub uses Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics and Remote Config. Depending on consent and service use, Google processes app interactions, device and app identifiers, device model, operating system and app version, language, approximate country, crash reports and diagnostics. Events describe screens, onboarding, connection outcomes, TV brand categories and premium purchase steps. Google Play purchase reporting can include purchase history and subscription events. We use this information to understand app use, measure purchases and advertising, and diagnose problems.

Analytics and Crashlytics collection follow the app's analytics consent setting and are disabled while that choice is unresolved or denied. Advertising consent purposes are handled separately. Our custom analytics events and nonfatal reports exclude TV names, IP addresses, pairing PINs, selected media, support messages and purchase tokens. Identifiers are pseudonymous; this data should not be understood as fully anonymous. The app does not use Firebase Performance Monitoring or Firebase Cloud Messaging.

6. Purchases

Remote Hub Premium is a subscription sold through Google Play Billing. Google handles payment. The app receives product details, purchase status and purchase tokens to recognise and acknowledge purchases and restore premium access. Purchase tokens are not included in our custom analytics or crash reports. Google Play and linked Firebase reporting may process purchase and subscription events. We do not receive your card details, billing address or Google account information.

7. Support requests

If you email us, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to answer you and to handle any follow up, and then delete it.

Internet, network stateTo reach your TV on the local network, to load ads and to send crash reports.
Wi-Fi state, change Wi-Fi state, multicastTo discover TVs and streaming devices on your Wi-Fi network.
NotificationsTo show the persistent notification for the TV connection while the app is in the background.
Foreground service (connected device)To keep the connection to your TV alive while you switch apps.
VibrateFor haptic feedback when you press a button.
Selected photos and videosThe system Photo Picker grants temporary access to an item you choose for opening in a compatible media app. Broad photo-library permission is not requested.

Third parties that receive data

ServicePurposePrivacy policy
Google AdMobAdvertising in the free versionpolicies.google.com/privacy
Google FirebaseAnalytics, purchase and advertising measurement, crash reports and remote configurationfirebase.google.com/support/privacy
Google Play BillingSubscriptionspolicies.google.com/privacy

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with data brokers.

Data retention

Data stored on your phone stays there until you clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Analytics and crash data held by Firebase is kept for the retention period configured in Firebase (at most 14 months for user level analytics data, 90 days for crash reports). Google's retention of advertising data is described in Google's privacy policy.

Children

Remote Hub is not directed at children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA/CPRA in California) you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Because the app itself stores almost nothing about you, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device:

You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Security

Traffic between the app and Google services is encrypted. Traffic between your phone and your TV uses the protocol each TV manufacturer provides; some older TVs only support unencrypted local connections, which is why Remote Hub should only be used on a Wi-Fi network you trust.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the app does with data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be shown inside the app.
