AC Universal Remote Control ("the app", "we", "us") is a universal infrared (IR) remote control for air conditioners, TVs and similar devices. This policy explains what data the app and its service providers handle, and your choices.
- The app needs no account and no login, and your saved remotes work offline.
- The free version shows ads via Google AdMob, which collects device and advertising identifiers to serve and measure them.
- We use Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) to see which features are used and to fix crashes, using anonymous app/device identifiers — never your name or contacts.
- An optional subscription removes all ads. Payments are handled by Google Play; we never see your card details.
- Your saved remotes and settings are stored only on your device.
Information collected
By the app: We do not ask you to create an account and do not collect your name, contacts, or precise location. The remotes you add and their settings are stored locally on your device (see below).
By Google AdMob (free version only): To show ads, Google AdMob and its partners may collect and process:
- advertising/device identifiers (e.g. Android Advertising ID),
- IP address and coarse, IP-derived location,
- device information (model, operating system, language), and
- ad-interaction and app-usage data.
This is used to serve, cap and measure ads and to prevent fraud. Where required (e.g. the EEA, UK), ads are personalized only with your consent, gathered through Google's consent form; otherwise non-personalized ads are shown. You can change your choice anytime via Settings → Privacy options inside the app. Learn more in Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from apps that use its services.
By Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics): To understand how the app is used and to detect and fix crashes, Google Firebase processes, on our behalf:
- an anonymous, randomly-generated app-instance / installation identifier,
- device and app information (model, operating system version, app version, language, and a coarse country/region derived from IP address),
- in-app events and feature usage — for example: the app being opened, finishing onboarding, adding a remote, sending a command, viewing or tapping the subscription screen, and starting a trial or subscription — none of which include your name, contacts, or any message content, and
- crash and diagnostic data (crash stack traces and the device's state at the time of a crash), collected only in the released app.
This is pseudonymous usage and stability data, used in aggregate to improve features, performance and reliability — it is not used to identify you personally. Firebase is a Google service governed by Google's Privacy Policy; see also Firebase's privacy and security information.
Fonts: The app's typeface is provided through Google Fonts. The font file may be fetched from Google's servers the first time it is needed (and is then cached on your device), which involves your device's IP address as part of that request.
By Google Play (purchases): If you start the subscription or free trial, Google Play processes the payment and may share with us your purchase status and a purchase token so we can unlock the ad-free experience. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Data stored on your device
The remotes you add and their last-used settings (temperature, mode, fan, etc.) are saved locally using standard app storage. This data never leaves your device and is removed when you uninstall the app.
Permissions
- Transmit IR (
android.permission.TRANSMIT_IR) — to send infrared signals from your phone's IR blaster to your devices. - Vibrate — for button feedback.
- Internet / Billing — used by the ads service (free version), analytics and crash reporting, and to process the optional subscription. Core remote features work without a connection.
How the data is used
To operate the app, display and measure ads in the free version, process the optional subscription, understand feature usage and improve the app, detect and fix crashes, prevent fraud/abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Data described above is shared only with the service providers that make those features work — Google AdMob (ads), Google Firebase (analytics & crash reporting) and Google Play Billing (purchases) — acting under Google's terms and privacy policy.
Your choices and rights
- Remove ads: subscribe to remove all ads and the associated ad data collection.
- Reset/limit ad tracking: Android Settings → Privacy → Ads lets you reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of personalization.
- Analytics & crash data: this data is pseudonymous and not tied to your identity. Uninstalling the app stops further collection, and resetting your advertising ID (above) limits cross-session linkage. Contact us to request deletion of data associated with your app instance.
- Manage subscription: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
- Consent: change your ads-consent choice in Settings → Privacy options.
- GDPR (EEA/UK) & CCPA/CPRA (US): you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data, and to opt out of personalized advertising. Contact us to exercise them.
Children's privacy
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data retention
On-device data persists until you delete it or uninstall the app. Data processed by Google for ads, payments, analytics and crash reporting is retained according to Google's policies.
International transfers
Our service providers (Google) may process data on servers located in other countries under appropriate safeguards.
Changes to this policy
If we change how data is handled, we will update this page and the in-app/store disclosures before those changes take effect.
